OK - but you can't work without a smile :) Catch 22

Generally if I'm out with a friend in a restaurant I will tip about 10% - the 
norm, but not in my local bar.  It is really a culture thing - but I do get 
people in who will throw me a twenty ($30) just to look after them.

My wages aren't great, but I find it hard not to work in a bar, i love it too 
much.  Maybe you should change to a bar that has a higher tip culture.  Lets 
face it, when I do 2-4-1 deals I generally attract the cheapies.  But either 
way I don't expect a tip.  When I worked at otehr bars - I was paid in tips 
-but I could guarantee that I would get £200($300) a night in tips so no skin 
off my noise.  

Is it the norm to tip in the states when you go in a bar and ask for a 
pint?!?!?  If so, I apologise for the last time I was in the states as I 
rarely tipped more than my change.
