OK, that's your policy, and there is a certain validation for it.
I still don't believe that someone should be slammed for doing so when they go 
home and log onto this board.

Anyway, I'm not the one tied to the stake today, so I'll move on to an 
off-topic philosophical point, related to my favorite bugbear.

Why is it so forbidden to talk about tipping?

Not getting specifically at you or your post here, it's a general observation 
I've seen and experienced, even sympathise with.

In most professions, it would be quite fine to say how much lumber you sold, 
what sized contract you closed etc (within some limits of discretion).
And although people are often touchy about their salary (a recent thread 
asking got NOWHERE) , it seems even more so with tips.

Is there something shameful about getting handouts? Or are we all just hiding 
from the taxman?

Granted, it's gauche to talk about money in some circles, OTOH in this forum 
folk regularly trumpet the size of their tip (Ooo that sounds naughty).

Just a sociological observation. Any opinions?
