Hi. I'm blown away by how this thread traveled. (Go figure I was at work and
not being the computer nerd I know I am).
I guess that is something I understand. Tips are optional. Maybe from
wherever I have worked, if someone doesn't tip, then they don't. I started as
a server and I think that is way more serious of an issue than if someone
doesn't tip as opposed to if they walked up to a busy bar and ordered a drink
at the bar. Last summer I worked in a bar with a "captive audience" as it was
in the center of an enclosed hotel courtyard surrounded by pools and happy
vacationers that were there for a minimum of a Friday/Saturday with a check
out on Sunday. The tips were sometimes for the whole weekend experience,
which I understand. God bless my other coworker who had the same point of
view on tips too -- It was just ringing that register and making drinks as
fast as possible and tips always managed to be great! It was more money than
I had the day before, which was a good outlook I learned from an old job I had
years ago....
And I echo Miss Charming on the treating your customer as you would want to be
treated. It almost always is rewarded with seeing that customer smile, have a
good time and yes, providing a nice tip.
As for all of the hostility, I am shocked these are only words! I will repeat
what I wrote earlier, that taking this forum to heart to the point it upsets
you is unhealthy! I really believe it is a place of learning and seeing a
different and more worldly spin on things. Somehow it became personal?
