hmmmmm, maybe try ordering it this way maybe:
Maker's Mark Manhattan Straight Up, but not shaken.
This is the way I have had people say it to me. My bartender mind immediately 
breaks it down...oh, not shaken...I guess I have to swirl/stir it around in 
the ice then strain it......
maybe this will work. I have to say that I've never had anyone ask for a drink 
stirred, but if they did say it to me I would know what they wanted....don't 
know what to say about this guy.

Is this bartender making eye contact with you or is he busy with his hands and 
eyes doing something else but showing that he's all ears for you? Because I 
come across peopel all the time that want their drinks made a certain way and 
they all have the same approach...they kinda lean across the bar as they order.

You really don't want to go to management about this just yet or cop an 
attitude with the bartender and get on his bad side...try again and see. Sorry.
