I can understand what you are saying in regards to about shaking or stirring 
the manhattan, but to completely generalise and say that any cocktail with all 
alcohol should only be stirred, i think you are wrong there.
Some martinis, what with all the variances in flavours and such now, taste 
better a little watered down. Also, not everyone likes their gin/vodka so full 
on, and prefers it to be that little bit more watered down. 
Dont get me wrong, i am not saying that i disagree with you, but i dont also 
totally agree. With the large amounts of products and such available to a 
bartender, each trying to change something enough to make their flavour 
influence unique, there will never be a line that separates the 2 differences. 
For my money, i kind of like the grey area of shaking or stirring, it gives me 
the chance to completely change a drink without the hassle of thinking is it 
right or wrong.
