Based on that logic would you add a little simple syrup or 7-up to a Martini?
If someone requests the addition of cherry juice, I'll do it. If this is what
they prefer that's fine, I'm not going to be snobby about it and berate them
for this addition. But it is not the standard way to prepare a Manhattan,
contrary to the misconception of some, and I'm not going to incorporate it as
a default ingredient when it isn't part of the recipe, it's a variation. I'm
under the impression that the folks who can't handle unsweetened cocktails are
going to order a 7&7 (or the like), not a Manhattan.
Actually my girlfriend made a mistake in a bar the other day, she ordered a
Manhattan but was thinking of a Cosmopolitan. I don't think she'll do that
again. ;)
