Ok, I'M PISSED! I took your advice went into a bar and ordered a Maker's Mark
Manhattan Straight Up STIRRED. I know he heard and understood every word I
said.

When I got it back it was SHAKEN with shards of ice in it!

This is what I'm talking about. This is why I started this tread. The typical
bartender does not know what STIRRING is!!!

My wife and I frequent the restaurant that this bar is at so I know that I
will continue to go to this bar. So how do I ensure that I get the cocktail
the way I want it without the bartender spitting in my drink?

Do ask for the manager (who probably knows even less about making drinks)? Do
I school the barkeep on stirring? Or, perhaps I should slide him a card with
the web address to this forum. :)

As I have said before I know that everyone on this forum knows the difference
between SHAKEN and STIRRED. My point is that the typical bartender does not.

Most of you guys that are on this board get excited when they have a customer
that knows their cocktails and it is a rare event when it happens. Well, I
feel us patrons have the opposite problem... I get excited when I get a
bartender that knows what the hell they are doing.

Sorry to rant.

Thanks

How do I pour? What is 'cl', 'oz' and 'pt'? How should I handle glassware?.
