Have to disagree MASSIVELY there Cody! The Martini is still around because it 
is the purest of cocktails. I would say that everything you've mentioned has 
actually damamged the real martini (gin, vermouth, twist) as people want to 
drink the shaken vodka version. Also, how can a martini be easy to make? I've 
read posts on here where 'tenders assume making a martini means getting cold 
vodka and pouring it into a cocktail glass. A real martini takes skill and 
requires the bartender to ask how dry, lemon or twist, brand etc. It's about 
understanding the dillution process, the ratio of gin to vermouth, the 
different citrus twist for the required gin and so on. A bartender that 
canmake a great martini understands balance and that for me is the most 
important part of cocktail bartending.
