Well, since I proposed the concept of marketting for the LIIT and it's been 
brought up over here...I just want to say.  DUH!!!  Of course the survival of 
the martini is ENTIRELY marketting.  Sure, some people like it, but the types 
that truly and honestly like it over so many more recent contributions are far 
and few between I think.  The reason that the martini has lived so long is a 
combination of the Cocktail glass, the bond movies, and the fact that it's 
become a symbol...oh yeah, and it's so damn easy to make.
