I don't know if it's me being anal or someone else, but as far as I can see
the basic difference between these two variations is the addition of 2
raspberries as a garnish.
Really, in the context of this discussion where we've (OK, I've) already
acknowleged that some drinks done slightly different can still be true to the
original intent,
1 1/2 shot Gin, | 2oz gin
3/4 shot fresh lemon juice, | 1 1/2oz lemon juice
1/2 shot sugar syrup. | 1/2oz sugar syrup
Lace with creme de mure | laced with 1/2oz creme de mure
(Over/with Crushed Ice)
-
.... looks like the same drink.
...within the boundries established by the choice of gin, the brand of 'mure'
and the breed of lemon.
But hey, I still can't tell you the significant difference between a Tom
Collins and a Gin Fizz, so maybe I'm missing the point here :-B
This IS a case where I'd have to taste one made both ways before I could
tell you which I'd prefer, and, eventually, which way was 'right' for our
house cocktail list.
AND, if we started getting lemons from a different tree, I'd have to taste
again, because following the recipe blindly would be WRONG! mmkay?
