I know you don't read long posts, but if you looked just 2 posts up on the 
list you'd find a very short post by me 
[Spellbinder] Re: Alton Brown-Good Eats that says it's called 
"Educating the Ice".

I've always heard of this being called "Washing the glass".  Obviously a 
generic term as compared to the Martini-specific terms above.
