A Mint Julep should not, according to research, contain any mint, but rather
its essence, plentiful Mint Sprigs, and no drinking straws.
Infusing the Bourbon, or Infusing some Sugar Syrup will do.
A work-a-round for this could be to put a couple of mint sprigs into a mixing
glass then cover them in granulated sugar, then splash in some boiling water
(not too much). Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. The heat will
leech out the mint essence. Then pour in the bourbon (2oz), which will help
cool the small amount of warm water. Stir this thoroughly, and then then
double strain this over Crushed ice in a Tall Glass, or Silver Cup. Churn the
Crushed ice thoroughly. Garnish with a bouquet of Mint Sprigs. No Straws.
Happy 4th of July, all you Americanos!!!
Cheers!
