Anybody watch "Good Eats" on FoodTV? I've always liked that show.

Anyway, tonight I watched an episode called "Raising the Bar". He started with
ice then explained 4 glasses, a jigger, said how real bartenders don't use the
3-piece shakers (yay!), then called a shaker tin and a cheater shaker a Boston
shaker. He showed a Hawthorne starainer then a Julep strainer as well.

James Bond sat at the bar and ordered a Vodka Martini shaken not stirred but
then Alton made him a classic gin Martini stirred. He talked a little about
gin, chilled the cocktail glass, poured the vermouth and gin in the shaker of
ice and stirred in a weird way like he's never really used a bar spoon before.
He then strained with a julup strainer rested on the outside of the tin.
Hmmmm, never seen that before.

He did a great job on the Daiquiri by giving a little history of how rum first
originated, used fresh lime juice and explained how to make simple syrup but
held the jigger so far away from the shaker tin of ice and held the bottle by
the base when pouring.

Then he dressed up as Colonel Sanders and made a Mint Julep using the wrong
end of the muddler.

Overall he did a good job, but I was surprised at the little tiny mistakes.

The show also popped up little bits of trivia. One said that the Bloody mary
was name after the Queen of England.

Anyway, that's the first time I've seen an entire show just on cocktails.
