I've already tossed in my two cents on the subject but I am curious. I've
always believed that there's a cocktail for everyone. Its something I
believed before becoming a bartender and afterwards I believe even more so.
There has been many a person who've come to me and said "oh, I don't like the
taste of alcohol" and I've proved every single one of them wrong. Wether it
be Buttery Nipples, or some rum + fruit juice foo foo drink, every one of them
has come around and told me "Man! This tastes great!" One of the largest
appeals of cocktailing to me is the incredibly wide variety of flavors
available.
I say these things only because I'm incredibly curious. If I appear to be
judgemental, please forgive me. I assure you that its the Internet making it
appear that way with its eunique ability to take all emphisis out of words.
There are many drinks that I do not enjoy, but I know how they taste and how
(at least in my humble opinion) they should taste. If I'm unsure of a drink
for some reason, or I have never had it and would like to add it to my
knowledge, I'm more than ready to sample a straw-full and see how it tastes.
Its less than 1/20th of an oz. and while more than enough to give an accurate
flavor profile, its not enough to make me go "bleggh!" and spit it all over
the bar (and believe me - anything more than that with Sambucca and I would be
doing that).
Just my thoughts. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
