You must have a different dictionary then I do...  Mine says a bartender is 
supposed to make drinks.  I don't know many bartenders that don't have a drink 
while they are working. I'm not saying they are drunk, But I think every 
bartender in town has a shot with a regular now and then.  I know in some 
locations there are laws against it (like Oregon) but there are also some 
locations where you can't drink. Just because some places have a rule doesn't 
mean it's what a bartender is supposed to do.
