There are a few bartenders I've talked with that pointed out that some 
non-union casinos have a better set of benefits.  I've forgotten the names, 
but a few of them do beat the union standard.  Besides, if you're prime 
interest is in medical, this state is a mess with bad doctors that make the 
medical insurance a little less valuable.

The other big distinction with this city is on-strip vs. off-strip.  The types 
of places that earn big tips on the strip are not going to earn much off the 
strip, and vice versa.  Most of the locals are not that interested in the 
features of most casinos and generally are more interested in simple places.
