Russ, 

It sounds to me that you are working you in a rough bar (pouring the shots 
into a jigger and then into the shot glass). I’ve always used standard shot 
glasses if it became necessary to use them. Because all of the bars I’ve 
worked in used measure bottle pourers such as the one in this link

overpouring(unless they are messed up) and they keep a bar liquor cost in 
check.

If possible you should think about buying some for yourself, than you will not 
have to be double pouring shots.
