Personally I wouldn't add sugar syrup to a Margarita. The recipe I use for a 
Margarita is 2:1:1, and I find that makes the best Margarita. 

The only other considerations are:

Are you shaking the drink for longer enough? (until the shaker is too cold to 
hold).

Are you shaking the drink hard enough? (no limp wrist action here please)


Are you shaking the drink with enough ice?
