A factor regarding storage once you succeed in clear ice, is that you're using
a standard home freezer. These freezers usually have a defrost cycle which
will contribute a bit of trouble in getting a truly solid freeze, which causes
a lot of problems with strong opacity in the center (which I'm sure you know
are just fractures and air bubbles). If you've been doing a lot of
experimenting and watching old attempts, you've probably also noticed that ice
will become more opaque with time. True deep freezers (industrial is best,
but home versions exist) should be better if you really want to make a go of
this.
