I am reminded of a quote my father used to throw at me as a young man..

To be honest I did not pay for a single drink on any of my travels to Tokyo 
and Osaka, using Corporate or media money and I have no doubt that noned of 
the drinks I had anywhere was cheap (very little is cheap in Tokyo) but...

You walk into a bar that has seats only and no-one standing; you sit down at a 
real chair with the bartenders standing behind the bar that is lower so you 
are at 'normal height'... they (1 for every five guests or so) give you a hot 
towel to wipe your hands and then proceed to make you a fantastically delicate 
drink served in awesome glassware placed on cloth napkin and sitting atop a 
beautifully polished piece of rosewood or similar with hand 
carved/cracked/placed ice nornally accompanied by a small bowl of something or 
other such as strawberries, cashews or similar.... truly makes you feel like a 
barbarian for drinking in the 'regular' way.

This video is not so much an upsell as the norm in a huge swathe of bars in 
ginza, shibuya etc... I will post up video of a 'club' with banging techno and 
a cocktail of Polish Pure Spirit, Dubonnet and lemon juice stirred in cut 
glass mixing glass...

The side shot of chilled vermouth was a nice touch and one I have never seen 
elsewhere and does get over guests' annoyance when you rinse a glass or ice 
cubes in vermouth and 'discard'... the two gins is nice and the little 'dink' 
with the lemon twist over the drink and near the rim where my mouth will sip 
from was lovely... you can't hear but the olive pick was silver with wooden 
handle...

wow... makes me yearn to go back there...

Oh and indeed the beer vending machine is good as well...especially Yebisu...
