If you are suggesting i havent earnt my way or been trying to improve my
skills and others along the way you are mistaken. I had worked in previous
bars before i got the job mentioned. It was just a littel anecdote i thought
fitted the thread.
I do check all references aswell, and i also require a minimum of exp. But,
experience does not equal quality staff. They may have 5 years exp, but what
bad habits have they been using for 5 years. If i need a bartender desperatly,
yes, i will hire one with more experience, but i do require a pre requisite of
personality that is relevant.
When i am heading into the busier periods i like to hire earlier with
inexperienced staff and train the properly from the get go. I get a better
staff member who has more loyalty than one who has "always done it this way".
The sad but true fact of the matter is that many managers lack some
personality and their bar and staff reflect that.
in saying that beans, i am not saying you dont have personality, just making
another observation. :P
