Bartending is a service business, and sadly your visual and overall impression 
is what people notice about you. I think if you stress that you are a team 
player and desiree the team or co workers to work hard to acheive your goals 
makes a positive view on people. To the Military bud here I tell them as a ex 
Army Ranger myself, hard work is defintilty something that I have no problem 
with, they usually laugh and than ask me a million questions like "what is 
that like?" after I tell them they see that bartending is really simple 
compared to that. lol.  Confidence is important. My uncle hires people for a 
large fortune 500 company and I asked him once " what makes you decide which 
people to hire?...he said simply "if I have 2 resume's that of course are 
outstanding, I would choose the person that was the most personable and seemed 
easiest to get along with", so human nature always prevails, kind of like why 
little girls like barbie dolls, that stereotype blond blue eye..ect...they 
tried to make a more "natural" barbie with dark hair, but all the little girls 
choose the blonde one. We are all human in the end. Right or wrong. I take 
applications for my clubs bar staff and in NYC every potential bartender is 
attractive/model/actor it seems but when I do hire I look for a person who has 
invested time in being a better bartender, maybe some bartending school, 
flair, TIPS training, someone who shows they are trying to better there craft, 
not just some model guy or attractive Coyote girl. I know other managers will 
only hire females, and others just males after 8pm for the Fights that break 
out..lol, Yet many other managers I know hate school trained bartenders, so 
its all up to every situation, just a confusing mess...really.
