I also like to see a few references that i can phone and chat to about how you 
worked with others. Batending is a team environment and if you cant work as a 
team then you will get no work.

On a side note, my first bar job was secured in a different way to most. I had 
not sent my resume or talked to anyone from there yet, but here is my story.
I found the place where i wanted to work and called their Hr dept (large hotel)
I politely introduced myself and explained that i would not be able to make 
the interview we had scheduled the next day at 11am, but would like, if 
possible, to reschedule a few days after. The lady was really polite, and 
pretended she knew who i was and why i was calling. I suggested that i would 
fax my resume to her and then see her at the interview. 
The day of the interview had arrived, i was led into her office and the 
General Manager of the resort was there instead. Thinking i had bitten off 
more than i could chew, i got nervous. He shook my hand, and offered me a 
position anywhere in the hotels food & bev outlets as a trainee manager. He 
liked my approach of being confident enough to fool his HR manager into 
thinking she had lost her schedule and forgotten about me. I took a casual 
position in the bar, and worked for the company for 4 years, working my way to 
management. The staff there were the best i have ever worked with, and the way 
i got my job has turned into an urban myth. Not all managers would be happy to 
see staff fool them, but i have since had it tried on me a few times, and 
after seeing the people in person, hired them. Getting a good job where you 
want is about confidence, and managers can see that, its their job, dont make 
resumes too complicated to read, make them simple yet effective. I have a 
different resume for each different position i wish to apply for, some bars 
you need to show your cocktail experience, others your managerial, and others, 
your education. Depends on the outlet.
