I default to a light rum but that's just because it's what I learned as the
standard way to make the drink. I'm certainly open to making it a more
interesting cocktail by choosing rums with more complexity but this is a
cocktail that I've made maybe five times in as many years. Sad to say but as
much as people are drinking every flavor of "martini" under the sun they don't
have much interest in rum and don't know what a proper daquiri is. Most
people who order a daquiri from me actually want it frozen and with
strawberries.
Seriously, I'm going to try to bring the daquiri back when we put out our
summer cocktail list. Looks like I better get started on my research!
