Vanilla is expensive but given that most vanilla rums or vodkas are given 
their flavour through chemical essences you'll get a far better quality 
product through infusing your own, the only point in favour of the flavoured 
products is consistency of flavour, if you infuse your own no matter how 
strict the recipe you work to your bound to get fluctuations in the flavour!
