A theme that came through in many of the socialogical articles linked to here 
and around was just that - that many drinkers state they "use" Red Bull as a 
means to an end. They choose it strictly for its effects, not to taste, savour 
or enjoy it.

Sometimes I will "use" coffee in that way also, but more often I choose to 
enjoy a good coffee for what it is.
Sometimes I even use tequila in that functional sense too ;-) .. only on a bad 
night.

Anyway. I can't be bothered giving you hassle of choosing RB in itself. It's 
the RB+vokda mixers that I turn my nose up at. Hmm, Could be because the drink 
is the epitome of the "drinking to get drunk" psyche. 
They are using RB, and using straight alcohol purely for the functional 
effect. That's what's grating at my mixologists soul.
