Red bull in general is reviewed lightly here

---
a can must carry a warning label that says:
"Not recommended for children, pregnant or breast-feeding women, caffeine
sensitive persons or to be mixed with alcohol. Do not consume more than 500 ml
per day."
----
Many sources have the Red Bull Corporate categorically stating that they "Do
not promote their product to be consumed with alcohol".
Due basically to the legal scenario I outlined earlier.
Yet we have much evidence of the Red Bull Promoters doing just that.
It's like a tabacco company making a press statement that they are "Not
Targeting Younger Smokers" then handing out packs in the playground. You don't
have to be pro or anti-smoking to appreciate that the corporate is being
deceitful.
I don't have to like or hate red bull, or even believe the health risks to see
that the marketing dept is not behaving the way they claim they are behaving.
The Health risk, such as it is, has been explained to me thus:
One of the side-effects of Red Bull, an upper, is to neutralize a few of the
bodies natural defense mechanisms, such as pain receptors, and the bits that
let you know when your body is tired or being overworked.
And, importantly, the bits that react to toxins in the bloodstream.
It disables your bodies ability to recognise and deal with alcohol poisoning -
it inhibits the otherwise natural process of vomiting - it enables your body
to get super-saturated with more alcohol than would otherwise be the case.
It is physically possible to get MORE drunk on Red Bull and alcohol than any
other mixer.
As much as we can say it's anybodys choice to get shitfaced, marketing a drug
that allows your body to go beyond the point of being unnaturally shitfaced,
beyond the point where the body would normally close down ... deserves some
sort of warning.
None of this applies (AFAIK) to RD when used as a mixer within usual safe
drinking guidelines, but the tests should be done and publicized.
