Cheers to that!

I go through periods where I'm drinking frequently (2-4 days a week), but not
heavily. It might be one beer post shift one day, maybe a few drinks with
friends on a night off, maybe some wine with dinner on another night. Then
there are other periods where I don't drink anything for weeks, so I don't
think I'm dependent on even "just a beer" to have every other day.

I also think a cocktail should be enjoyed for its own sake, not just to get
wasted. There are still a lot of people who seem to think that drinking
heavily and getting wasted makes them instantly cool, perhaps they watched
"Animal House" too many times. I'm in no position to judge these souls, but
as I wrote above I just think it's an excess that hurts more than it helps and
gives alcohol a bad rap.

I'm not dependent on the buzz, but I'd be horrified to never be able to drink
again. Not because I need to get liquored up, but because I'm amazed at all
of the flavors that are encapsulated in alcoholic forms. When you think of
all of the whiskeys, brandys, liqueurs, etc., all of these flavors that humans
have tapped into by distilling, I just think it's amazing. To say nothing of
wine and beer...

How do I pour? What is 'cl', 'oz' and 'pt'? How should I handle glassware?.
