I couldn't agree more. And I'll add that substituting Cherry Heering, or any 
other Cherry Brandy, will achieve no approximation to Maraschino liqueur. 
Jesus, imagine drinking an Aviation with any of the above. Holy kerapp, batman!

Ewer best bet is to do a bit of googling to find a site that will ship it (I 
know of a few UK sites that ship Luxardo Maraschino which, in my 
not-very-humble opinion, is the only maraschino liqueur to be using).

Failing that, something like a Kirsch or Kirschwasser would be a much better 
approximation, but would still not represent an adequate substitute.

To conclude:
There ain't no substitute (probably not the response ewe're looking for).
