Hey Def. I just graduated school. Didn't know anyone or anything before. My 
instructor told me I was one of his best because I caught on quickly and am 
able to multi-task (it doesn't hurt that I'm something of a flirt). He gave me 
some great leads, but after that its all on your own. The trick is to follow 
up immediately when you get the lead. I know where I'm from bar managers don't 
advertise for a position the traditional way because they don't want a bunch 
of inexpeienced newbies wasting their time, but I was surprised to learn how 
many openings there were. Its just that they go quickly.I started 1 week after 
my class doing banquets and weddings for a golf course, and then followed up 
on a new lead at a local pub and bar-backed for 2 weeks before they moved me 
up to bartender. Because my instructor has been teaching in this area for 26 
years and because he gave me a high recommendation and I followed through 
immediately, I got the positions. Had I not taken the class I would have never 
known the jobs were out there, and I may have got a position bar-backing, but 
I would have remained a barback for a much longer period of time. So I think 
that it is realistic that you can get a job right away, but I think "job 
placement" isn't the right term so much as "job lead", on which you have to do 
the work if you want the job.
