I thought the Citron thing came after the Cosmo got started as a marketing
thing by Absolut.
>any drink made with different vodkas isn't a cosmo.
If someone walked up to my bar and requested a Greygoose Cosmo, I still
consider this a Cosmo. The same as if they ordered a Sapphire Martini I feel
it still falls into the Martini category.

Which drink was created by Dale DeGroff, the Cosmo? You mention 3. If Dale
created the Cosmo then believe me he would have it all over his website and in
his book that comes out next month. I had the owner of Bartender Magazine
email me and ask me if I was the one that invented the Cosmo...so they don't
even know. As far as I know the inventor of the basic Kama Kazi with a
splash of cranberry (Cosmo) has no claim to an inventor.
So, to sum up, if someone walks up to my bar and asks for a Stoli Rasberri
Cosmo, I will know exactly what they are talking about and just make it by
substituting a different vodka. Most people out there don't really care about
all the technicalities anyway.
