I agree with you all the way. Same experience for the most part. I worked a a
real swanky resturant serving the likes of Jordan/Pippen/Messier/Barkley not
to mention Diane Keaton(sp?) quincy jones the list goes on. Anyhow this
frustrated me alot as when these guests showed up there was not alwayse a
table as we were jammed all the time. The Bar (oyster bar actually) was used
as a holding spot untill tables came open. We served wine/apetizers/oysters
and sometimes even dinner before they finally got to thier tables and the bill
was transered!!!! Can you imagine the bill for some of these people? and we
diddnt get a kick back. I raised the issue to management and they jumped all
over the servers. We got tipped 10% right away as soon as the bill got moved.
No questions no excuses accepted. The management implemented a fair
arangement. Tips were generally over 10% anyhow. It was a great solution.
I hope it works out for you. It must be demoralizing and isnt very team
focused. What incentive do you have to take great care of your guests when you
know that it is all for the greedy servers. Good Luck
