I work in a bar/restaurant...it seats 100 people and has room for 8 at the 
bar, although on Fri and Sat nites we can get over 20 there...=)
We use the bar mainly for people waiting for a table...although we do get 
people that eat at the bar or just come in for drinks. Very few people tip at 
the bar, and have their bar bill put on their food bill.
The problem is that the waitresses will not tip in to the bartenders. We 
occasionally get a $5 bill, knowing full well the waitress has just walked out 
with $150 bucks. We have 3 waitresses on the floor, and rarely do all three 
tip in. They say they feel they have done all the work, and deserve all the 
money. I mention that we have their customers at the bar for quite awhile 
BEFORE they even get them, and that the customers themselves are expecting the 
waitresses to share part of the tips with the bartenders.
What is a good argument for this kind of mentality? It really frustrates me to 
walk out of a night bartending with only $5 in my pocket when they are making 
$150!
