gathering knowledge should be a gateway to forming your own opinion. Before 
departing for the lands of ice and snow (Norway), I searched my book 
collection (a meagre collection it must be added), and discarded those that 
offered nothing at the time I bought them (so why did I buy them?) and still 
offer nothing now.

Also, it seems anyone can published a book, or publish their own website 
(ahem!), how does a book stop being 'published hearsay', and become a source 
of invaluable knowledge.

Also t'other day I spied a whisky book, which (via translator) stated that 
bourbon whisky can only be made in Kentucky. A very glossy, informative 
looking book no less. I would rather not take potluck when buying cocktail/ 
spirit books, but then again you take potluck when believing someone elses 
opinion.
