Hmmmmm, it appears that it's true! Wow George, you are a truly a cocktail 
archeologist! Jerry was born in 1830 and he would've only been 11 when this 
article came out.

In the article it's prefaced with:
"The following Song composed for the Temperance conventions in this city, we 
publish at the request of friends. We understand that it will be sung at the 
temperance meeting to-morrow evening."

So the rhyme is a song. It would be cool to know the tune.

Whiskey called Mountain dew? Hmmmm, what's that?
