Actually, these are my New Year's Resolutions:
(1) To remove all the Frankenstein-like experiments from my kitchen cupboards
(infusions etc), and see if it is logistically possible to intoduce them to a
high-volume bar scenario. Gawd help me.
(2) To come up with the formula for the "perfect" (to my palate, at least) Gin
and Tonic - perfect gin (and quantity), brand of tonic (and quantity), perfect
amount of lime/cucumber (Hendricks, y'all), perfect method of chilling, and
glassware. I've tried this in the past, basing my findings on my notoriously
pedantic memory - goddamit my human failings.
(3) To actually meet, and have a drink and a natter, with someone from
Webtender. (nearly made it last year - apologies, Rob)
(4) To introduce to the whirled the joys of Gary Regan's Orange Bitters (in
general), and the effect that a dash thereof has on a 4:1 Beefeater:Vya
vermouth Martini.
(5) To go to Bermuda, seek out Georgie Porgie, and give him a smack in the
mouth. I'm a vehemently non-violent person, but that spa pushed wee Q to
limits never before experienced.
(6) To buy Pal (Der Webtender) a big drink. Actually, Christ, we all owe him
one (or several).
(7) To be able to brew my own bitters (where the hell does one get gentian
root?)
(8) To go back to Paris, have a drink with the bloke who taught me everything,
and say: "Dude, don't ewe hate when the Grasshopper usurps the Sensé", snort a
line, and make the f*cker a drink which makes him say: "Grasshopper, ewe have
made Sensé proud." - I'll probably just make him a Corpse Reviver #2, followed
by a Japanese. He never was much of a reader.
