Sure, promotions are a natural part of what they are there to do. That's not
the real problem.

The real problem is that Redb Bull has been tested by researchers in several
countries, and found to be extremely bad for your health when combined with
alcohol. The warnings they are required to print on every can (in some
legislatures) are shocking, shocking reading.
Red Bull & Vodka is a dangerous thing to put in your system, and in countries
where the tests have been done, the sale is banned.

Now, Red Bull International co. knows this. It knows that if these tests were
replicated in the States, it would end up with laws against it. But as of yet,
(AFAIK) the company has kept the heat off itself by portraying itself as
socially responsible, and not 'actively' promoting alcoholic mixes.

By remaining underneath the radar, and officially admitting "sure, some people
may mix it with alcohol, but that's not really our responsibility" they are
avoiding any watchdog from initiating the test that would investigate "so what
are the health risks of this new fad".
Full disclosure would be a bad thing for the company, so they just have to
keep hoping that no-one asks the hard questions.

this is the context in which their "promote, but claim to not be promoting"
bevaviour sux a bit.

You don't need to agree with the duty of the government to look after the
health of the populous, or even see the point in honest labelling of
foodstuffs to see that Red Bull Promotions are currently, knowingly, working a
loophole.
