I hoped so too. I tend to over-estimate the folk I meet on the net, until they
prove me wrong. If the OP was trying to be tongue-in-cheek, I hope I answered
in kind. If they were serious, it probably went straight over their head. :-)
Ba-boom tzzz.
I do think "Caucasian" is very witty for the reason Natrone gives (Although I
didn't much appreciate the Lebowski). I like the trivia aspect of the subtley
different versions, but dunno if it'll stick.
Just don't walk in around midnight with some oh-so-clever nickname for a
normal drink that is known only to you and your buddies and try to order it at
my bar. Then make fun 'coz I don'k know what the heck you are talking about.
We have folk that come up from a nearby town and order "their beer" by the
name of the brewer that founded the company 60+ years ago and the product has
been rebranded twice. They are so hip.
"A Couple of Wards"
"... so, two Canterbury Draught then?"
"No, Wards "
"Yes... by which you mean Canterbury Draught."
"Yeh, but we call it Wards"
"I know, (thousands wouldn't) Do you want it or not then?"
"Yeh, OK."
headslap
Note these are younger drinkers trying to be elite ... about drinking a
second-tier beer.
