There were records of a drink called the Pina Colada being popular and
available in New York in the 1930s. It may have used coconut milk and simple
simple syrup instead of canned "coconut cream", though. Back in the 1920s
apparently the Pina Colada was the name for what now would be called a Pina
Fria, a frozen drink made with rum and pineapple juice.
