If I could have e-mailed this to you, I would have. I didn't post in the 
thread this came from, because I didn't feel it was on topic for the thread. 
To put my post which you responded to in context for anyone else reading this, 
remember I was responding to another who threated to come out of hiding and go 
on an attack just because I had the nerve to originate a thread he/she? didn't 
like.

I'm not sure this forum is the right place to discuss this, but if you are 
others have used hateful or demeaning generalization to catergorize you, or 
others, please do not include me in that camp. First of all, people's race, 
creed, or color, sexual interests or orientation cetainly are not reasons for 
condemnation as far as I am concerned. I also could care less what someone 
does for a living unless it affects my income in some manner. I, unlike you 
evidently, have no problems with attorneys or any other career path. About the 
only career path I have a real problem with is permanent welfare recipient.

I also acknowledged that the generalizations I was encouraging others to 
participate in would be imperfect in totality. One could make a case that not 
all american police officers are able to fire a handgun if someone stated that 
generally American police officers know more about handguns than the general 
public in Canada, and they likely would be right. That does not mean that we 
should discard generalizations as a communications tool however.

The original challenger made me very aware of the previous threads, by posting 
links to them, which I followed and read. That is why I responded with the 
post you responded to. I simply suggested that some people who post here might 
be interested and if it were a thread that caused angst, to simply avoid it so 
others who were interested could enjoy it and possibly learn something from it 
they would value.

Is it really your or my job to tell others how to live or validate their life? 
If a tender feels the size of their tips makes them a better bartender, 
shouldn't they have the right to choose that as their criteria? If you view 
accepting tips as unprofessional, what gives me the right to tell you you are 
wrong? To use your language, what the f#@k gives either us the right to 
dictate to someone else?

OK. I do agree this is valid. The answer is, I am willing to take the chances 
that come with this risk. I can't figure out why anyone is wasn't, isn't, or 
wants to be a tender would bother with reading all of these posts other than 
possibly the recipe forum, but I suppose some do. I still don't understand why 
people would want to have sex with dolphins, but someone actually showed me a 
web site devoted to it, so what do I know? (Hell, until I saw the site, I had 
never even thought about the possibility, and on the whole I would be more 
comfortable if I had never seen the site.)

Which only more or less proves that generalizations are just what they are, 
not comprehensive or exact.
