I too did a stint as a barback before tending.  It does sound to me that your 
bar has a ton of problems, but you arent one of them.  As for the glassware, 
my bar had the door staff pick up glasses while they walked around the bar 
keeping the peace.  That takes a little presure off the waitresses and you. If 
I were you I'd grab a few extra cases of glassware to put behind the bar when 
you set up for when you do run out.  Running out of other stuff, over stock 
the hell outta everything before it gets crowded and you dont have time (fill 
extra straw holders and put out tubs of commonly sold bottles were the tenders 
can easily get them).  The tip thing in my opinion you are getting ripped off. 
 we tip out our barbacks 15% less if they suck a lot, and more when they bust 
ass.  I myself have split things even on nights were I'm the only tender and 
my BB helps me serve, but it is all about the bartender, they are all a little 
different.  As for bartenders asking you questions... hey were not perfect, we 
forget shit too, and maybe its a test, either way it wont hurt you to start 
learning the drinks.  Hope this helps.
