From a utilitarian approach, if all you wanted to do was win (as opposed to
actually improving business) I'd observe that a $100 budget could most
effectively be put towards actually buying product - which you can then cut
price on or give away :-B
Imagine $400 in bar tab give-aways! That could be a heck of a promo.
Now, coming back to reality, cheap/cut-price/free drinks are not a great way
to build great crowds. You attract the most fickle and, frankly, cheapest
clientelle. Sometimes at the risk of driving off your steady regulars.
Also, drinks you are giving away can actually eat into your genuine margins,
as it means that people that would otherwise have actually bought drinks are
no longer doing so. You need these promos to build additional turnover, not
substitute what you would already be making.
So I guess I'm saying, um, don't do that :-B
