only america would make such a thing as tipping compulsory, 10% minimum, if I 
am not mistaken.

Why don't the US government make it compulsory to pay your staff properly?

customers pay for the goods they are recieving, plus the mark-up etc etc, but 
why should they pay to be served properly? hmmmmmmmmmmm!

What should I pay the rest of someones wages, just because the bar owner is a 
cheap-skate? (even though I do tip a lot, what is the reason for making what I 
do compulsory?, condone slave labour?)

I would rather pay higher prices, and have the owners pay good wages, than 
have tipping enforced upon me. It is my right not to tip, and also my right 
not to have some wannabe actor spitting in my soup as some sort of twisted 
retaliation. 

In England and Norway (where I have lived, and am now living respectively) 
there is no enforced tipping, and there is still a high standard of service. 
In England, you are more likely to be served by a morose student than in 
Norway, but tipping is still a privelege and not a right.

Can bar owners really be saying 'the customer should pay for the service, I 
just own the place!' geez! what a scam they must be running!

some 'high class' bars (going by the name of Che , just around the corner from 
the London Ritz) charge 12.5% service charge AT THE BAR. it is an outrage to 
be charged for someone standing in front of you to 'look after you'.

Tips are a 'reward' for good service, not an extra charge. How would a dog be 
trained properly, if you rewarded it continiously, no matter how it behaved.

I have heard tales of people doing things to customers drinks/ food that just 
make 'me' sick! If you are outraged by somebody not tipping, get a different 
job!

If you want to get rich from bars, you need to own your own one.
