what's up nyguy?  I'm jenergy.  I used to live in St. Thomas.  Went down there 
with no plan and about $5000 in my pocket like Cheryl said.  Here's the thing. 
 You will only find benefits at one of the hotels.  Here's another thing.  
There is alot of turnover down there and as soon as you get there and put the 
word out news travels fast that someone is looking for a job.  I worked at a 
few different places down there.  I worked at the Marriot.  It's easy to get a 
job if you have experience.   Not to be stereotypical but just to give you an 
example.  The marriot in St. Thomas when I worked there was rated the worst 
marriot out of all them in the world.  The natives (majority)  are very slow 
and are not to educated when it comes to customer service.  What this means is 
people from the States will have a good chance of getting hired because it's 
hard to find decent employees.  Even though the marriot had a bad rating, I 
worked at the beach bar and used to comb in about $250-$300 for a day shift.  
I made good money at that bar.  There are always people coming and going so 
it's easy to find work.  You just have to get there.  I know a few people down 
there still if you want more info.  It was definately a blast living there if 
you like to party.
