Your post made me think about what it'd be like if any of us lost "our" pub. 
We all have that one place that we go to just to relax and have a beer with 
mates or catch up with forgotten friends. It may not be hip, it may not be 
cool, it may not do the best Negroni under the sun (mine has an awesome beer 
garden though), but it's your pub. It's a staple and a stalwart, no matter 
what's going on.

I think the British ideal of a pub is a bit more of a community rather than 
the American or Australian style, but the feeling is still there. Imagine if 
you rocked up to your favourite boozer one day and found it was going to be 
closed in three weeks. I'd probably cry. Even tho mine's been open for well on 
20 years and still going strong. :P

Just something to think about, I guess.

Oh, and the Intrepid Fox closing? Never heard of the place before, but with 
live music venues really struggling to maintain relevance in this pop-heavy 
mass-marketed society, its a bit of a shit that decent places like the Fox end 
up closing. :( At least Brisbane has a quality live music scene. Mmm...The 
Troubadour...
