That's pretty much what i tell the students (product isn't around most bars 
long enough to worry about expiring). But some of our local cowboy bars etc. 
can have a bottle of vermouth around for a few months no problem.

Also, I am trying to put together a class that is one weekend only and is 
targeted at home bartenders. Those could easily sit on a bottle for many 
months.

Of course in those cases i tell them if they want an everyday white or red 
wine and don't want to be opening a new bottle all the time then go with a 
higher end box variety. The fact that the bladder collapses on itself does 
help longevity.
