Proven fact that straight people don't do as well in tips as gay 
people...there's a lil thing called "gaydar" which enables your average gay 
person to sniff out a str8 person a mile away...and avoid them unless they're 
either a superior bartender or they're out to give them a hard time. i'm a 
lesbian and i bartend at the biggest gay club in western canada and i will 
agree to a point that lesbian can be crappy tippers, however, that said, the 
older generation in general doesn't seem to understand the concept of tipping. 
the younger lesbians are better for tipping unless we;re getting into the 
18-22 crowd who just care about how many bottles of Canadian they can buy in a 
night...needless to say, they don't tip. now, on to the gay men...there are 
some very good tippers amongst them but for the most part, they can be, and 
usually are cheaper than any other customer i have. I've also found that 
straight men are amazingly generous with their money, while straight women 
tend to be more tight fisted...could be any reason for that, ranging from just 
being cheap to being uncomfortable with the bar/bartender...that said, if 
you're feeling that uncomfortable in that particular bar, then maybe ya 
shouldn't be there :P 
there's no particular formula to figuring out who tips better. bottom line, 
the better a bartender you are, the better your tips will be. 
however, you can't please everyone, and some people are just damn cheap...
