we always use a an entire fifth of vodka, the brand doesn't really matter.
adding a few cans of 7-up or ginger ale helps keep the alcohol saturation even
throughout the melon and usually results in a less sludgey melon. for an
extra special treat, add a cup of grenadine in the mix.
you can not over-shake a watermelon...we take turns doing it for about an
hour or so, and let it sit in the fridge for about 24 hours overnight. we
shake it a little before we cut into it.
the real fun begins when we feed slices to our neighbor's grandkids and watch
them get drunk and fall over.
