There was a radio show on Trade Marks, Copyrights, and Pattens.  I called in 
an asked about "TM" and "R" on recipes.

He said you (Trade Mark) "TM", or "R" register, a recipe to protect you in 
selling an identified product in your bussiness.  TM covers you on the state 
level, and "R" like on Red Lobsters "Alotta Colada" covers you on the federal 
level. You copyright the name and the ingredients.
