Here you go bro, this should make it a bit easier to understand (loads more 
obviously, but just so you get the general idea)

What's the difference between all of these? OK here goes:

Bourbon: Must be made from at least 51% corn and aged in brand new white oak 
barrels for at least two years. Nothing except for water can be added.

Rye: The same as bourbon except must be at least 51% rye.

Canadian: Blended whiskey, usually with corn and rye (hence why people think 
it belongs in a Mahattan, it doesn't!) Aged in either ex bourbon, sherry, port 
etc casks. 

Tennessee: Pretty much the same as bourbon, except any grain can be used and 
filtered through around 10ft of maple charcoal. That's what gives JD etc its 
sweetness.

Irish Whisky: Triple distilled and make with unsmoked grain. That's why you'll 
find that Jamesons etc are quite light and refreshing whiskies. Irish whiskies 
must be aged for at least 3 years in oak casks.

Blended Scotch: Made from grain, malt and blended together in continous stills 
& must be aged for a minimum of 3 years.

Single Malt: Whisky that is made at one distillery, made only from barley malt 
& must be aged and distilled in Scotland.

Triple Malt: Monkey Shoulder is the only Triple Malt whisky. Made by blending 
together 3 single malt whiskies from Speyside.
